Fishing was not easy during the months of July and August. The black marlin have shown up very late on the Watamu banks and the conditions haven't been perfect every day. During the last weeks, a lot of sails have been caught by all boats and everybody was waiting for the marlin to show up. Peter Ready and the Seahorse have had a fantastic start to the new fishing season. While fishing with Enrico and Lorenzo from Austria, they managed to get their first black marlin on the first charter day of the new season.  Ten year old  Lorenzo  caught his first marlin on the first big game trip he ever made. He did very well to fight the small marlin on  50lb gear and tagged and released the fish after taking some pictures. Enrico managed  to get his first sailfish too. The following days they fished the banks and the close by waters of Watamu. The second day fishing was really difficult and getting baitfish was nearly impossible. The result of the day  was two small Giant Trevallies. 

On the third day there was a lot of action on the Seahorse. After Lorenzo  caught his first sail next to Watamu, Peter Ready decided to get some baitfish and fish for marlin at the banks. After a short time all tuna tubes had been filled with fresh baits and so they started sitting on three live baits on the banks. After some time a black marlin came up and followed the live baits for ten minutes without taking them. After this fish  disappeared one of the baitfish died and as the crew were  putting it on the down rigger, a marlin showed up right behind the left live bait. The black marlin followed the bait for more than five minutes before taking it. At the same time a second marlin showed up and attacked the right live bait. Unfortunately he missed it but the first marlin was hooked. Enrico fought the fish for nearly 20 minutes on  80lb tackle. Unfortunately the marlin had swallowed the bait and there was no possibility to release the fish. So congratulations to Enrico's first black marlin. Again the bell was rung twice at the fishing club this afternoon. The last day ended up with another sailfish for Lorenzo.

All in all Enrico and Lorenzo have caught in four days charter couple of tuna. Let 2 black marlin, 4 sailfish, 2 giant trevally and a couple of tuna. Let's see what will happen in the next weeks...
